Specialist in aggregates, concrete, construction, building products and industrial services

For more than 50 years, BAUVAL has developed an expertise in various sectors, including work execution, processing and aggregate transportation as well as concrete, construction material and conventional and low-energy plant mix manufacturing.

Bau-Val inc. started its activities in 1954, when Quebec and Canada’s remarkable development resulted in major projects. To support this level of activity and meet the demand in an appropriate fashion, BAUVAL created Pavages Varennes in 1974. Six years later, the company acquired Sables L.G. Located in St-Hippolyte, this quarry comprises deposits and massifs rich in consolidated and alluvial granite aggregates.

In the mid ‘60s, BAUVAL was in a position to contribute to the planning and delivery of many major projects such as the completion of highways 10, 15 and 20, route 132 and the Boucherville interchange. Expo ’67 is one of the major job sites in which the company participated actively.

In the ‘70s, BAUVAL completed, among other projects, earthworks and paving works in Central Quebec, Outaouais, Gaspésie as well as in Northern Quebec where the company participated in hydroelectric mega projects.

During this time, Sables L.G. provided aggregates to these major worksites, including the Olympic facilities and Mirabel airport.

In the ‘80s, BAUVAL wanted to be at the forefront of manufacturing techniques regarding building material and roadway maintenance. Therefore, it upgraded its equipment to make it more efficient and to master technology.

To improve its geographical positioning, BAUVAL acquired Carrière L’Ange-Gardien in 1981 and Carrières Régionales inc. in 1986.  In 1985, it acquired Asphalte Hi-TechTM divisions that operate a major mix plant on the Montreal Island. BAUVAL created Tech-MixTM that specializes in the manufacturing of building materials and high-performance roadway maintenance products.

In the ‘90s, markets served by Tech-Mix exploded, including Nova-Scotia, New-Brunswick and Ontario. A distribution network was then implemented in order to market BAUVAL’s products in the United States.

By consolidating its activities, BAUVAL started up several partnerships (Les Pavages Dorval inc. and Transport J.P.Pigeon inc.) in order to provide clients with a gamut of services in the construction and specialized transportation fields. BAUVAL continued the implementation of a quality control system for all its divisions and received ISO 9002 accreditation.

Aiming at new challenges and supported by men and women committed to success, the company is still expanding and is on the lookout for new markets. This approach is supported by contributing to the success of its clients, employees and shareholders in the respect of its values and the environment.
