SAINTE-SOPHIE
Located next to Sables L.G. quarry, Sainte-Sophie’s quarry is located in Sainte-Sophie, in Quebec’s Low Laurentians area. It has been in operation since the early ‘80s, and is a natural source of sand and gravel that come from granite deposits (granite gneiss). Rocks extracted from that quarry show a great resistance to wear, polish and freezing-thawing.
BAUVAL acquired the site in 2001 which became BAUVAL Ste-Sophie, a BAUVAL inc. division. The quarry diversified BAUVAL’s resources of high-quality aggregates. On the verge of being ISO 9001-2000 accredited, it is operated in compliance with this standard.
The quarry and sandpit operations increase the availability of high-performance products made out of granular material ballasts, cement concrete and asphalt mix in terms of quality and quantity required by the industry.
Located 45 minutes from Montreal, the quarry is accessible through highway 15 and routes 117, 158 and 333. Located near several major municipalities such as Saint-Jérôme, the site favours the development of an industrial zone for other businesses according to regional development requirements.
